Horizont: Works on Paper
I’m thrilled offer the few remaining copies of my third book!
My work starts with quick gestural poses, which help me and the model warm up and connect. I once kept these fast drawings to myself until I realized that I could track the experience of ten two-minute poses, without pause, in one composition. I call these ‘Registers’, referencing historical artistic narrative technique. After warming up, the length of poses may grow to eighty minutes. I hand-draft body contours the same way I draft theatrical scenery, working in ink with the fast choices it forces me to make. The pentimento of every decision becomes part of the composition. I use freehand geometric linework to evoke organic planes. The line itself carries energy and color. The figure is placed on the page engaging with, or popping out of, an abstract geometric negative space. This motif thrusts the figure toward the viewer and grounds it in an imagined landscape. I call this negative space the ‘Horizont.’ In German, horizont may mean sky, context, or field of vision.
Horizont features a Foreword from Doable Guys Co-Founder Lena Green and an Afterword by adult star and model Sergey Sheptun.
Each book in a limited edition of 50 is numbered and signed. Printed in the USA in 2024.
